SSH, or Secure Shell, is a network protocol used to connect to a server and carry out various tasks using a command line. The protocol is employed by many knowledgeable users, as the information transmitted over it is encrypted, so it may not be intercepted on the way by a 3rd party. SSH access can be used for a variety of things depending on the type of Internet hosting account. With a shared hosting account, in particular, SSH is one of several ways to import/export a database or to upload a file in case the website hosting server allows it. If you have a virtual or a dedicated server, SSH could be used for virtually everything - you can install software or restart specific services like the web server or the database server which run on the machine. SSH is used mostly with UNIX-like Platforms, but there are clients which permit you to use the protocol if your PC is working with a different Operating System too. The connection is made on TCP port 22 by default and the remote hosting server always listens for incoming connections on that port even though many service providers change it for security reasons.
SSH Telnet in Cloud Website Hosting
SSH access is offered with all Linux cloud website hosting which we offer you. With some of them, it is offered as standard, while with others it is an additional upgrade that you can include with a couple of clicks in your web hosting CP. You may get SSH access from the section related to it in which you can also find the information that you need to connect - the host, the port number and the username. You can select the password that you'll use and, if necessary, you will be able to change it with a couple of mouse clicks from the same location. All the commands that may be used with our shared plans are listed within a help article alongside relevant instances. If the SSH access feature is permitted for your account, you will also be able to upload files through your favorite FTP client via an SFTP connection.
SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Hosting
All our semi-dedicated server accounts provide the possibility to access and manage them via SSH. If the package deal you have chosen comes with this function by default, you simply have to enable the SSH access feature via the corresponding section of the Hepsia CP. If the function is listed as an additional upgrade, you can quickly add it through the Add Services/Upgrades link in the Hepsia CP and it'll be available within a minute. We have a number of help articles and educational videos concerning the use of SSH commands to manage your account and a full list of the commands that you can perform alongside various examples to give you a better idea of what you could do. If SSH is active, you will also be able to set up an SFTP connection to the account and to upload data safely and securely using any FTP app that supports the feature.
SSH Telnet in VPS
You will be able to use SSH to handle your content no matter which Linux virtual private servers you pick when you sign up, since all our packages offer this feature by default. You'll not need to add or activate anything manually - immediately after your server is prepared and you get the Welcome e-mail with the login info, you may connect and begin working on your Internet sites or any software that you would like to install and run on the machine. You'll have root-level access to the VPS and since the account will be isolated from the other accounts within the physical web server, you shall be able to do anything you would like with no restrictions. You could install any app that you need and that will run on a Linux-based server, restart any software server (web, database, game, media, etc.) and manage your files and databases efficiently.
